Book Review: Unmasked
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐
"Meet Gary. A very average raccoon of average intelligence. His daily concerns are where to get his next snack and how to remain unnoticed. Then suddenly, with the help of his plucky friend Jenny, he is thrust into a world of risk and adventure. He must confront his past and his own insecurities as he decides his future. As they work to save the lives of those around them, they learn about themselves and who they are capable of becoming."
~ From Goodreads ~
This seemingly simple story about small animals in the woods and their interactions with humans and their pets has a deep message to put across. The settings of fantasy and the reality of all the emotions described make this book a pleasure to read. It is difficult to believe that she is a first-time author!
Gary and Jenny, Max and Jonathan, and even Mr. Pickles will all contribute to your enjoyment of such a heartwarming and humorous read. Mind you, it is not all fun and jokes, there is a mystery to solve too.
How a Racoon(Gary), a Rabbit(Jenny), a Chipmunk (Jonathan), and a cunning Fox (Max) go about solving this murder mystery is what this book is all about. But the story within the story, when the backgrounds of each of the characters are being explained, has a lot to teach us.
This book has so much wisdom and it is so well written. I don’t really believe that heroes need a cape. There are so many real life heroes around us who do just small things to help others around them. Most heroic work goes unnoticed and unappreciated though.
Acording to me the moral of the story is, “You are the master
of your own destiny, don’t learn to blame your past”
I highly recommend reading this "quick" read, fast-paced book.
This one fits one of the Reading Prompts too...

Not my kind of read. Glad you enjoyed it though.
